Part B: Medical Insurance

Social Security sets your monthly premium based on your income from 2 years prior.  If your are collecting Social Security benefits, your Part B premium will be deducted from your monthly check.

If you are not taking Social Security benefits, the Social Security Administration will bill you for your premiums.


This guide is meant to be for learning purposes only.  There can be unique situations that need to be considered when going on Medicare.

Important Information:

If your income today is lower than it was 2 years ago, you can appeal to Social Security to use your current income to set your premium.
